It's the annoying time of year...again.  Valentine's Day!! Single again this year? Hey! I have a lot to be thankful for this year; From my job to my friends and my family each deserves their own praise. From November 2014 to November 2015 I went through a lot and came out a stronger and better person for it.  My biggest struggles were finding a job and keeping a roof over my head.  I don't say that in a I was totally broke and couldn't afford a place to live but I was bouncing around from place to place hoping that something better would work out for me. The option of my car almost became reality a few times. Since moving out in May 2014, I've lived in 6 different apartments. 6! For a little over a year that's a lot of moving around for anyone. While all of this was terrifying and stressful I somehow saw it through and ended up landing my 1st job, finding a place to call home--temporarily and really settling into something for the first time in months. I'm no longer fretting about where I'm going to work or if I'm going to have enough money...

Okay yes, this is in some sense wicked cheesy but seriously, LOVE YOURSELF . I mean if you don't, who will? In all seriousness I'm sure of it that there is plenty of love in your life. Even if you don't have a significant other to snuggle up with this Saturday, there are plenty of people out there who love you! Your friends Family Your pets!! Honestly, every day should be like Valentines day.  Who says you have to celebrate being in love with someone one day out of the year?  You should tell someone and show someone how much you love them in one way or another each day. It's not about gifts, chocolates, flowers. cards and fancy dinners; Valentines day is about being together--and about Hallmark making a shit ton of money off of everyone *ugh* But if you have no plans, no lover (like myself) this is the perfect day to TREAT YO SELF . Happy Belated Holidays! A few weeks ago it felt like I was searching endlessly for the perfect outfit for Christmas.  Any time I went out shopping I spent a lot of time in different stores trying on dresses and outfits that I just wasn't happy with. I ended up scrolling through ModCloth with the idea in my head that I wanted to wear plaid for Christmas. A "Christmas Plaid" if you will. In general I find the hype over ModCloth to be a little overrated and the prices (for me) to be a little above what I'm willing to spend on a casual dress that I want to wear several times.  I'm aware that you can adjust the price range of what you want to look at but somehow I never really wanted to take the leap. Although when I came across this dress for under $60, I was smitten!  I took a few photos Christmas eve with my pettiecoat under the dress to give it a bit more volume. This Thanksgiving will definitely be one we will talk about for years to come. A foot of snow... Hanging trees... Broken branches... No electricity for almost 3 days..... You know, just all of the great things you like to have at Thanksgiving. I got home from the airport around 2:30pm on Wednesday afternoon and the snow was really coming down out there.  There was about 3 inches on the ground by the time we got all the way home. As the night went on, our lights kept flickering on and off for a couple of hours when eventually the lights just went completely out around 6. Luckily, my parents invested in a generator a few years ago so my dad filled up the tank with the rest of the gas we had. Our generator only runs our water, heat and a few other essentials which is just enough to get us by.  Around maybe 10:30-11pm the power came back on and it looked like we were in luck! Happy Thanksgiving! I hope that everyone had a nice warm holiday! I know that a lot of us in New Hampshire didn't! We had a huge storm hit us Wednesday night and we ended up getting about 10" of snow and lost power for a few days.  Luckily I was able to fly out of Philadelphia before the storm got really bad.  I got back okay, but my suitcase unfortunately did not. Though it was a hassle, I was thankful to wake up thanksgiving morning to see that my suitcase had safely arrived!  I was particularly excited because my Thanksgiving outfit was inside of my bag; This little number was a pick from my previous roommates donation pile of clothes.  Evelyn was kind enough to let me pick through the bags and pull some clothes that I really liked, this was one of them.  I paired the outfit with an old pair of Steve Madden shoes and bronze HUE tights. I meant to do my halloween post weeks  ago but I've found myself working a lot of over time at work lately! For Halloween this year I made the risky decision to make my own costume.  When thinking of what I wanted to be I wasn't sure at first.  The more and more I looked around pinterest, the more I wanted to be something original and different.  I decided to design a Water Nymph costume for myself. I wanted something pretty, elegant and flowy...and blue! Getting the fabric was SO cheap and I was thrilled when I got to check out and only payed $19 for all of my materials!  Since the dress form that I got for Christmas last year is still back home in New Hampshire, I ended up going back to school with a friend and using the studio to drape and make my pattern.  It kind of sucked because I knew I was going to be able to make something close to my drawing.
