A Late Mother's Day

Image
Okay, okay. So I know Mother's day was several weeks ago but I've just gotten around to posting the photos and getting some stuff together. This past Mother's day was the first time that I was home for the day since high school.  I always had come home the week after mother's day so my mom was definitely happy to have me and my sister around for the day! My aunt invited us over for a cookout at her house with the family.  My uncle's brother came over with his two girls and also my uncle's mother joined us.  Then my mom's parents came over as well.  So we had a nice group together.  I also thought that it would be nice for us all to take pictures together with our moms! All of the ladies! My mom, yiayia, and my aunt My uncle with his mom and brother My sister, my mom and I Goofin off My family can be a bit nutty but I love them all the same. I've been in Philly for two weeks now and I definitely miss them!  I c

Things have been a little hectic since I last had a chance to post!  I've moved myself down to Philly and I will be moving into my sublet tonight after work! My new internship with Destination Maternity has been great so far and I'm slowly getting into the swing of things as each day passes. The week I started I was able to experience the madness of a sample sale, a charming cheese party and the joy of summer hours in which we get to leave at 12:30 on Fridays! It's an interesting adjustment being back in the city, but things have been going pretty well so far.  I just only hope that I will be settled in the next week or so and use to a new routine.  The other great thing about being back here is having a handful of my friends close by. I'm currently working with 3 girls that I graduated with and the last two weeks I was staying with my two best friends.  There are still many people that I need to see before the summer is over but I'm just getting started!

Polka Dot Queen

As you might of seen in the last post, I really enjoy getting dressed up for special occasions!  This time is was no different.  Usually I end up going out and buying something new to wear to a wedding but in this case I already had a dress in my closet.  A few months ago a girl I worked with at Timberland came by my desk with a dress that she said was a gift from someone but it didn't find her exactly.  She's a little bit shorter than I am and the proportions were off for her.  That's the down side to being a petite girl! (I'm not even at 5'2!) So she was kind enough to bestow it upon me!  I've been waiting for the right occasion to come along and this was it! The polka dot dress from Forever21 has a cute little peplum and also a mesh top which adds character to the dress.  It also has the sweetest peter pan collar and a keyhole back.  The shoes are Carlos by Carlos Santana and I got them for a steal at Buffalo Exchange in Philly a few years back.

Love is Blind

Over the weekend my mom's cousin and my second cousin, Tommy got married to his partner Ryan down in Rhode Island!  We drove down the day of the wedding all dolled up and ready to celebrate with everyone. Words cannot express how happy I am for him and for Ryan that they are officially married! It's very exciting.  The ceremony was quick but very meaningful, funny and filled with tears of joy.  It was quite easy to see that Ryan and Tommy are very much in love and I was so happy to be apart of their big day.  Here are a mix of photos that I took and also my cousin Andrea's husband Sami took as well. It was also great for the whole family to get together. Most of my mom's cousins live out of state or more than 30 minutes away so it's rare that we get to spend time together.  But last Friday was a great chance to celebrate and cut loose with some of my favourite people. Tommy (far right) had his long time roommate be the officiate of the wedding. He

My best friend since pre-school, Cassie won the Karsh Photography Award for her photo series titled "The Abductees." I am very proud of her and I went down to Boston the other night to see her work on display and receive her award. My friend, the talented photographer she is was gracious enough to snap two photos of my outfit: The skirt is handmade by me and I am currently in the process of sewing a few more for the upcoming summer.  One will be Marvel themed! I feel like a movie star when I put this outfit together, that's for sure ;] Also be sure to check out Cassie's photos here . And here are some other photos from that night! -Kristina

Adventures in Cooking: Sour Cream Chive Potato Cakes

For every holiday that we decide to host at our house I always try to help out by making something simple to be on the menu.  In the past I've made baked mac and cheese for Thanksgiving or I help bake cookies but this time around I wanted to make something that wasn't dessert related (but I also made cookies too!) Easter food can be a little tricky I think but I wanted to make something that would be a nice addition to the feast!

Easter Sunday & Long Lost Sister Returns!

Χριστος Ανεστη! | Christ Has Risen! I know I'm a little late on the greeting, but in Greek Culture we express that Christ has risen 40 days after Easter.  So if you don't see your Greek friend on Easter, it's still cool to say Christos Anesti to them even the week after all of the festivities! Easter was really nice this year and it was great to have everyone together.  It was the first time since 2010 that I had been home for the holiday. It also was the first Easter without my dad's mother, Yiayia Margarita. She passed away in November unexpectedly so it's been tough going through all the holidays without her. But the last time I was home was the last time we were all together on one of my favourite holidays. This is us in 2010 Yeah, posing with the lamb is a thing we do! But this Easter was also very special because my exchange partner from high school got to spend the day with us too! (My sister, my mom, me and Caro) I'm sure y
