In The End: Bye-Bye 2015

Image
I feel like I've blinked and this long ass year is finally over. Although long, frustrating, emotional and rewarding; I don't totally hate 2015 like some people do in this moment. I've found this year to be a growing and learning process for myself. It's hard to believe that we are starting 2016! Wow! Last year I made myself a " Goals for 2015 " post and I'm writing now to update and see what I did, what I didn't and start thinking about what the 2016 goals are. Shall we review? 1. I want to write more- So overall, did I write more? Yes and no. Did I write more short stories or poetry? No. But I did join a great site, Gruemonkey and became their lead Rock & Roll writer and editor.  It's come at the cost of neglecting my own blog a little bit but I am glad I found the site.  I've been able to write more about music (my other love) and meet some interesting people.  The best part was getting to interview Sage Francis and Henry R...

Ideas are brewing...

Hi all! I know that it's been quite a while but I've still been hustling trying to get that full time Assistant Designer job! I graduated a little over two years ago now and I'm still hunting for that job I am meant for; not the girl who sits next to me, or the recent grad, not the person who walks in the door after me for an interview but me.  It's exhausting mentally going into an interview, being transparent, putting you and your work on the table and being vulnerable to criticism.  Le...

New Year, New Goals

Image
I've never really liked the phrase, "My new year's resolution is..." I personally like making goals more than resolutions.  Things I want to improve on, I want to do or see and maybe a few things I'd like to quit.  This is my list for 2015: 1. I want to write more It may or may not surprise you but along with my fashion degree, I also graduated with a minor in creative writing.  Writing has been a secret passion of mine for a while and I only share my writing to particular audiences.  I mostly write poetry but I also like writing short stories (none of which that I have finished.) This year I want to write more, at least once a day.  Another great thing that comes with this is next on my to-do. 2. Get published or self publish my work. Since I graduated in 2013 I've been trying to submit my work to a few different literary magazines but have had no luck so far.  It's hard to find the right magazine for your work and some times I feel lik...
