David Bowie January 8th, 1947- January 10th, 2016 Although I'm writing this several months after his death, I still wanted to bring forward the importance of David Bowie and his contribution to music and fashion. I do have to admit, I never was a huge David Bowie fan,but there has been a number of songs and outfits that have inspired me over the years. In his life, Bowie produced 26 albums, did 14 world tours and appeared in 21 films and television shows. He accomplished so much during his time and his death was a huge loss in the world of rock and roll. While all of these accomplishments are great, there have been some iconic outfits that have been worn by Bowie in the past years that made some of these moments famous and never forgotten. Life on Mars Some of Bowie's most famous suits were designed by Freddie Burretti , including the suit he wore in the music video "Life on Mars." It's been a while since I've made a personal type post but I want to take the time to talk about my tattoos. I have two tattoos done by two very talented artists. I have a swallow tattoo on my upper back and I most recently got my queen of spades tattoo done on my bicep. Each piece has a special meaning to me and I spent a long time thinking about what I wanted to get. So far I haven't gotten any of the tattoos that I wanted to get while I was in high school, which is a good sign! It also reminds me that you should maybe wait a little bit longer after your 18th birthday to go and get a tattoo. This is my swallow tattoo: This was a little after it was fully healed. I got my first tattoo done in Cranston, RI at Iron Hand Tattoo by my talented cousin, Andrew Labanaris . Well, he's really my second cousin, but none of the less he is an incredible artist. Having a family member work on my tattoo was a true bonding experience and having him do m...
I've been admiring Stephanie Pepper's illustrations for a few years now and wanted to focus this Thursday on her. Not too much is known on her personal status but she is still currently a student at SVA and creates some pretty radical art. I'm not really sure what attracted me to her art originally but I like the subject matter and the way she can exaggerate and make it feel like you know her characters just by seeing one or two pieces that have them in it. I admire her skill and imagination and I hope you can appreciate it as well You can find more of her works here , here and here
