David Bowie: Fashion Icon, Rock Legend

David Bowie January 8th, 1947- January 10th, 2016 Although I'm writing this several months after his death, I still wanted to bring forward the importance of David Bowie and his contribution to music and fashion. I do have to admit, I never was a huge David Bowie fan,but there has been a number of songs and outfits that have inspired me over the years. Navigating Through Unemployment

It has officially been six months since I got laid off from my job. I went to work on April 10th, expecting a pretty busy but normal day. Between designing the GabiFresh x Swimsuitsforall collection for 2020 and helping my technical designer sketch items for FullBeauty's swim AND working on the regular cruise assortment I got to the office early and started working hard. Whispers were echoing across the office that someone from Human Resources was in the office along with our VP and that something was going to happen. Honestly, I didn't think much of it! Our VP had regularly been making visits to the office since being put in charge of our division and having someone from HR didn't really surprise me. Maybe an hour or so into my day my cell phone rang at my desk; It was the VP calling and he asked me to come to the other side of the office and meet him in one of the other rooms. Artist Thursdays: Yamil Flores

This week's (late) Artist Thursday feature is all about the all talented Yamil Flores . Yamil wasn't always a photographer but about 5 years ago he bought his first camera and started doing street photography in New York City. Since then, he has been able to develop his own style and has taken on doing portrait photography in a new and exciting (natural) light. Flores is able to capture the true beauty and essence of those in front of his lens. Back towards the end of this past November, one of the girls at my office approached me about possibly doing a photoshoot with Yamil as he is a good friend of hers and they had taken photos together in the past. I never really had anyone take my photo before other than a friend taking an outfit photo for this blog or that time I awkwardly posed for my senior yearbook photos in high school.
