Feature: The Thrifty Gentleman

Image
The other weekend "The Thrifty Gentleman" (aka Floyd Walker Jr) and I collaborated in doing a shoot for his instagram account which is actually called ThriftyGentleman . Walker's IG features outfits from which he has collected from thrift stores. His main go to seems to be Goodwill but also shops at other thrifty places as well. His style is sleek, classy, tailored and timeless, his identity goes unknown to the internet world. Here's a look at what we wore Floyd is in his 3-piece corduroy suit while I match in my corduroy dress from Maeve . His is thrifted, mine is gifted/hand me down. We just lucky for us that we had a bottle of wine to celebrate! His: A nice 3-piece suit. Navy jacket with notched lapel. The shirt he has on has printed lighthouses on them. To match, he wears a grey vest and faded olive pants.  And just check those caramel oxfords! (All thrifted!) Hers: I'm wearing a vintage wool dress from Sears courtes

Spring Sprung

SPRING IS FINALLY HERE!!! I was home in New Hampshire over the weekend and while I was there I brought back ALL of my spring and summer clothes! It really surprised me when I saw how many dresses I actually have! Since today was in the 70s I went ahead and wore my polka-dot dress! I got this dress a few years ago now with the intension for it to be my "Valentine's day outfit" I remember wearing it on Valentines day but I also remembering it being really cold and having to wear tights with this. It's finally warm enough now that I don't need those darn tights! Felt good to have bare legs and flats.  While my legs are still pale from the long winter, they will have their olive glow soon enough Looking forward to having more days like these! -Kristina Dress: Forever21 (similar 1 2 )

Black Fashion: Coachella Queen

Over the past few months I've noticed more and more how white washed fashion is.  Fashion is meant to be a part of everyone's personal expression yet time after time designers and editors alike seem to hone in on white men and women to "better" represent their brand. But honestly, why should they be so bias? Every color is beautiful, anyone can make the right outfit shine. Lately I've found myself becoming more submerged in POC (people of color) fashion and blogs. Most of the media is focused on a white world, but honestly each day people are crossing borders and blurring the lines between black and white and there are much more interracial couples now then there were a few years ago.  While it is still a struggle, we have made progress. I'm sure one day all people will be of more than one race. While browsing Refinery29 the other day, I came across an article featuring some of the clothes from the H&M Coachella

Grey Beanie in NYC

Hello followers and special onlookers, it's been quite a while! Things have been fairly busy these last few weeks and it's been hard to find the time to sit and work out a blog post. A couple weeks ago now my two buddies and I hit NYC for the day and did some touristy type things. For those who don't know, back in 2012 I spent the summer in New York interning with Lela Rose.  Instead of commuting from Philly 3-4 times a week I saved myself the trouble and lived in the city for the summer. NYU offers summer housing for students who have internships so I stayed in the dorms there while carrying out my internship.  NYU is mostly down in the village so I'm pretty acquainted with the area as well as the garment district--obviously Nick was home for the week from Penn State and wanted to do something fun together. So he, Anthony (Jav) and I took the day for ourselves. When we got off the train we were quite ravenous so we got on the subway an
